I really appreicated everyone's input about my dad's losing his driver's license for four months due to

an emgergeny room doctor reporting conditions to the state that he did not have..does anyone else have any other info or ideas? If so, let me know, please?

Virtual Device Driver
Some Windows programs are virtual device drivers. These programs interface with the Windows Virtual Machine Manager. There is a virtual device driver for each main hardware device in the system, including the hard disk drive controller, keyboard, and serial and parallel ports. They're used to maintain the status of a hardware device that has changeable settings. Virtual device drivers handle software interrupts from the system rather than hardware interrupts

Plug and Play
For automatic configuration of device drivers to occur, the system should have a BIOS compatible with Plug and Play. Plug and Play technology provides software and hardware support that enables the Windows operating system to detect and configure the hardware with little or no user involvement. This makes it easier to add and configure hardware on a computer running Windows Server 2003 without needing special knowledge about hardware configurations.
Power Management
The device driver offers enhanced power-management features for desktop and mobile computers. The operating system supports the Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) specification, which provides reliable power management and system configuration features. Devices and drivers designed in compliance with the ACPI specification work with the operating system to respond to or request changes in the system power state.
Drivers are used for interfacing with:

• Video adapters
• Network cards
• Sound cards
• Local buses of various sorts - in particular, for bus mastering on modern systems
• Low-bandwidth I/O buses of various sorts (for pointing devices such as mice, keyboards, USB, etc.)
• computer storage devices such as hard disk, CD-ROM and floppy disk buses (ATA, SATA, SCSI)
• Implementing support for different file systems
• Implementing support for image scanners and digital cameras

Are there disadvantages to purchasing re-manufactured toner cartridges?

I have a Brother color laser multifunction printer for my business that I love, but boy is toner expensive! I came across re-manufactured versions that are half the price as new cartridges, and see the benefit for the environment and for my pocket... but will I be sacrificing quality? And will the machine be damaged in any way?

Many people buy and use re-manufactured cartridges a lot and most have few, if any, problems. The problems that re-manufactured cartridges can cause, but not always, depending on the company, are:

1 - image quality:
- a - color consistency may vary
- b - light or faded appearance
- c - images are not as clean and crisp
2 - cartridges can leak toner into printer
3 - poor quality workmanship or materials may cause premature failure of cartridge, squeaks, poor print quality, etc. and not last as long
4 - quality of toner may deteriorate fuser rollers more quickly and leave more dust inside printer

If your prints are critical for quality, reliability and endurance then I'd suggest going with the manufacturers brand, but if you're wanting to lower your costs and prints aren't that critical then try a set and see how the re-manufactured cartridges work for you. It's only half of what you'd normally spend and could be worth it in the long run.

2000 Honda 400ex (440) with hotcams. 1-way flywheel clutch wearing out?

6 months ago i replace the 1-way flywheel clutch, because it wasn't catching in order for my to start it. it worked fine for about 6 months and it started to not catch at all, so i replaced the starter reducer gear because the hub on which the 1-way clutch catches on, was all scored up. but after i put the new starter reducer gear in, the clutch still isn't catching. any suggestions?

Did you replace the large gear that the starter clutch grabs?
Whenever the starter clutch (one way clutch) is replaced, that gear must be replaced with it, as a set.
The smooth surface can be worn without any visible defects.

Making Your Own Camping Checklist

A camping checklist is something that evolves as you gain more experience camping. It not only makes sure that you carry everything that you might need but it also can be used to make sure that you don't carry too much camping equipment.

With new technology camping equipment are increasingly lighter and smaller with new designs and materials. Choosing a lighter alternative to the same piece of gear can significantly reduce your overall load. It is not necessary to sacrifice certain essentials just to make your backpack lighter.

A lighter backpack will help you travel more quickly and cover more distances in a day and put less stress on your knees, shoulders, neck and back.

These 5 tips will help you reduce the weight of your backpack.

• Get rid excess - Don't bring extra changes of clothing more than one. Don't bring more than one cooking pot.

• If you are hiking in a group or someone else try to share some of the camping gear that can be conveniently shared like camping tent, camping stove, insect repellent etc.

• Replace camping equipments with lighter versions of it. Lightweight components and simple designs can almost maximize function while minimizing weight.

• Use camping gear that can perform different functions.

• Use travel size versions for consumables like soap and toothpaste and try to reduce packaging.

Traveling with a big load on your back is not fun and most times unnecessary. If that's what you've been doing you'll appreciate how easy it is to travel with a lighter load. Keeping your body in shape can help you carry your load better still.

Computers Put the TECH in Technology
Most of us will have to work with personal computers no matter what our professions really are. Whether you're employed as a medical doctor, a counsel, a college professor, an office clerk, a businessman or nearly any other career out there, you may face the computer as an element of your job, to play a game for entertainment or simply to communicate with a buddy or a loved one through chatting or sending emails.
Most, if not all, of our PCs as the parts of our PCs as the time or as our own whims will dictate. Remember how most us had to make do with WordStar as our word processor? Or how we marveled at how a thin floppy disk is in a position to save data? There too was a point when the monitor was controlled by a single color like green, blue, grey or black and white. Today the most recent trend, or must have, in monitors is the HDTV monitor.
Multi-Purpose Equates to Being Practical
They may be a bit more dear compared to older monitor models but the acquisition price is easily worth it. I will decide to choose to observe pictures online or thru the disc player in my CPU, or connect the HDTV monitor to a Television box and watch local channels or cable networks or I can similarly connect it to my trusty player which exceeds the picture definition output of the CPU's disc drive. A computer monitor and a television in one!

pro logic IIx and my HDTV?

I am trying to hook up my HDTV with an optical cable to my Onkyo 6.1 HT-R520 receiver. I am getting sound, but it is not in surround sound. Apparently Pro Logic IIx is supposed to convert 2 channel stereo into 6.1 or 7.1 surround sound, which I am not hearing. I am wondering if this is happening because I am directly hooking up my HDTV to my receiver, or because my Direct tv receiver doesn't receive Dolby surround. Any answers would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Dolby Pro Logic IIx can "up" a signal to 6.1 channel Movie/Music/Game mode if - the source is PCM (pulse code modulation, like a cd - uncompressed 44.1kHz); analog; Dolby Digital 2/0 (stereo); and DTS 2/0 (stereo) when the surround back setting is set to none (pg.48).
Provides Pro Logic IIx Music/Game mode (no Movie mode) if the surround back setting is NOT set to none (pg.48).
And Pro Logic IIx Music mode only if the surround back setting is NOT set to none AND the Dolby Digital/DTS setting (pg.42) is set to ON.
No Pro Logic IIx modes if PCM signal is 96kHz.

In essence the feature really works best with either stereo PCM or stereo Dolby Digital and DTS signals - which are bitstream by the way (compressed). Also to get the most out of the Pro Logic IIx "up conversion" you need to select NO rear channel in the settings menu or your receiver (pg.48).

They sure didn't make it easy to just sit back and watch a movie in surround - did they?

I forgot to add that only some of the programing from DirecTV is broadcast with Dolby Digital and you need to check the program INFO to see if it is or isn't. There web site had little more than that to say.
